11-1-2010
Konner had surgery to remove a portion of the tumor which was sent for a biopsy. Within the same procedure a port has been placed in order for Konner to receive any treatments which may be needed. Also bone marrow was taken. The surgery went well and Konner was placed in ICU for recovery.

Konner was sore today from the procedures which occurred yesterday. He will remain in the ICU where he can be observed because his blood pressure has fluctuated and has a slight fever which is to be expected with his body reacting to the type of procedure which was done.

Konner was in ICU most of the day and was brought back in his room late Wednesday. The biopsy results came back and confirmed the Neuroblastoma. A MIBG scan was also done today which detected various spots other then the tumor and the two spots which were indicated earlier. Konner is still in a lot of pain from the surgery and his spirits are not so high at this point. The doctors plan to start the treatments either Friday or Saturday. The cycle of treatments will be one week of treatments while staying at the hospital and two weeks at home. The five days of treatment will take place at Fletcher.

Konner is moving around better today but is still really sore. A hearing test and ultra sound of his heart will be done today. These will be used to compare to in the future in order to see if changes have occurred due to side effects from the chemo treatments. There is a little fluid on his lungs which will be monitored closely. If is does not take care of itself the fluid will need to be drained. Treatments look as if they will start tomorrow.

Konner received his first chemo treatment today. The doctors had to drain the fluid in his lungs and will continue to monitor closely. His oxygen levels are also being monitored and at times go below normal levels so needs to be on oxygen. Due to the pain Konner has not wanted to move much, cough or take deep breaths.

Konner received his second chemo treatment today. He is moving around a little today.

Konner received his third chemo treatment today. He has been moving around better today. His oxygen levels have been normal and has not had to be on oxygen today. There is no additional fluid on his lungs. Konner had stated he feels nauseous and not up for visitors. He had asked us to go home for the day.

Konner received his fourth chemo treatment today. The doctors took another x-ray today and compare to earlier x-rays to determine if anything has changed. The x-ray indicated the fluid on his lungs had not gotten any worse. Konner had a rough day of not feeling that well.

Konner will be receiving his fifth chemo treatment today. He needed a blood transfusion today due to low blood cell counts. The doctors said the low blood cell counts could be due to the chemo treatments or because of all the blood that has been drawn for Konner's blood work.

Konner is up and walking around. He is being a strong and brave little boy. His blood pressure is high which the doctors with monitor.

Konner has a slight fever last night. He no longer has the fever today but doctors want to monitor him tonight so he will not be coming home today as we had hoped.

Konner had another fever this morning and will remain at the hospital. He has been given another antibiotic. Since his immune system is weak doctors have suggested Konner only come in contact with the immediate family that he sees on a daily basis.

Konner remained in the hospital over the weekend. His blood cell counts remain very low. Last night Konner had yet another fever so the doctors have put him on another antibiotic which is stronger and takes effect fast. Konner will be unable to come home until his blood cell counts get higher for his immune system to be able to fight off the possibility of a virus. He also had to have another blood transfusion.

Konner did not have a very good night. The fever remained and was not feeling well overall.

Konner is feeling better today. He no longer has the fever and his blood cell counts have increased considerably.

Konner's blood cell counts had increased today, which is great! He was sent home late in the afternoon. This is his first time home since he was admitted to the hospital.

Konner had a good night at home. He is happy to be at home! He will have several appointments but we hope if all goes well he will remain at home until his next scheduled chemo treatment.

Konner went back to Fletcher for his check-up and everything was good. He has had a good week at home staying busy building projects and working with his tools. Konner continues to keep us all busy trying to keep up with him.

Konner will be having Turkey dinner at his house with his family. Hopefully he will not eat the whole turkey before we can all get some. His appetite has been very good since he has been home. Konner will be headed back to Fletcher tomorrow to begin his second set of chemo treatments.

Konner has gone back to Fletcher for his second set of chemo treatments. His first treatment will begin today.

Konner has been doing good with his chemo treatments. He has felt nauseous from the treatments and has actually gotten sick. The doctors said Konner is doing good and are happy to see that he is still so active. Konner is scheduled to go to Boston on Thursday of this week for a consultation for collecting blood stem cells to store. Doctors have said to expect this procedure to be done when Konner's blood cell counts go back up after this round of chemo treatments.
